October 10 marks the 17th annual World Homeless Day, an international observance that draws attention to homelessness and encourages communities to respond. At Medford Gospel Mission, we want to use this occasion to remember what God has done over the past 67 years, thank those who have supported this ministry, and pray for His work to continue in the years ahead.

Remembering What God Has Done

Since 1959, the Medford Gospel Mission has been a place where people in difficult circumstances can receive care and find the hope that only the gospel of Jesus Christ provides. Across these 67 years, God has worked through countless men and women who have provided that care and faithfully proclaimed His Word.

Over the years, thousands of men and women have received relief and begun building meaningful relationships. They have heard the gospel, grown in faith, and taken steps toward restoring their relationships with God, themselves, others, and creation. Local churches have welcomed countless people into their congregations to worship, belong, grow, and serve.

Some of this work has been visible in stories we have been able to share. Much has happened quietly, through conversations, prayers, and acts of faithfulness that never appeared in a newsletter. None of it has gone unnoticed by God. As we look back, we give Him the glory for the work He has accomplished.

Thanking Those Who Have Supported the Work

This history is also filled with people who have given generously, prayed faithfully, and served with love. We are grateful for those who helped establish the Mission, those who sustained it through changing seasons, and those who stand alongside us today.

To our supporters, past and present: thank you. Your generosity has helped us reach the lost and gather the reached day in and day out. Your prayers and encouragement have strengthened those serving here and those taking difficult steps toward restoration.

We are especially thankful for the local churches that have shared in this calling. Through financial support, fellowship, discipleship, and welcoming people into your congregations, you have helped men and women become rooted in the life of the local church.

To remain faithful to the Word of God and preserve our freedom to carry out this ministry according to our biblical convictions, we do not accept government funds. We depend on the generosity of people, churches, and businesses who believe in our purpose. We thank God for providing through you over these 67 years.

Praying for the Work to Continue

Remembering God’s faithfulness leads us to pray for the years ahead. Our mission remains “reaching the lost and gathering the reached.” We long to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ and become rooted in local churches where they are known, loved, and encouraged to follow Him.

Would you join us in praying that God will continue this work? Pray that those who come through our doors will receive the gospel with faith. Pray for perseverance as men and women walk through the challenges of restoration. Pray for wisdom and faithfulness for our staff, board, and the local churches that share in this ministry. Pray that God will continue to provide the people, relationships, and resources this work requires.

If the Mission’s work has been meaningful to you, please share its story with someone else. Tell a friend or someone at your church why you support this ministry, and invite them to join you in supporting this important work.

For 67 years, God has sustained Medford Gospel Mission through the faithfulness of His people. With grateful hearts, we ask Him to continue His work among us—reaching the lost and gathering the reached.
