The best part of this ministry is to see how God heals relationships as we aim to reach the lost and gather the reached.

Community Connect is a vital part of that work. Each evening, different local churches come to the Mission to share a meal with us. Around the table, something simple but powerful happens: church members, staff, and program participants begin to know one another as men and women made in the image of God.

As this happens, everyone learns something. You see communities caring for one another. And when communities come together, they learn how God is working in one another’s lives and how each experiences fellowship, prayer, worship, and daily life. They discover one another’s stories, gifts, and the evidences of God’s grace at work in their lives.

Community Connect creates a bridge between the Mission and the local church, helping men and women in our program take meaningful steps toward finding a church home and building lasting relationships within the fellowship, worship, and care of God’s people.

And then, after sharing a meal together, we serve together.

At The Main Ingredient Restaurant, church members, program participants, and Mission staff stand side by side to offer Christian hospitality to the larger community. Some cook dinner or bake dessert. Some serve tables, make coffee, wash dishes, welcome guests, provide security, or help in the
coat room. Everyone has something to do. Everyone has something to give.

Together, we serve an excellent meal, and our guests see community in action. They see men and women serving together with joy, dignity, humility, and purpose. They see hope lived out before them. They see that true connection is found in Christ.

This is a picture of the body of Christ at work.

That is what we are praying for through Community Connect and The Main Ingredient, that our good works would point beyond us, beyond the Mission, and give glory to our Father in heaven.

Thank you for helping us reach the lost, gather the reached, and serve our community in the love of Christ.

Signs of Restoration

The stories that follow offer a glimpse of the quiet, steady work God is doing in the lives of men and women at the Mission. Just as growth in a garden often begins unseen, restoration is taking root in small but meaningful ways—through renewed faith, healing, responsibility, community, and hope.

Restoring a Relationship with God

A Restored Relationship with God is seen when participants begin turning toward the Lord with repentance, trust, gratitude, and renewed desire for His Word. These stories reflect hearts learning to submit to God’s care, receive His grace, and recognize His faithfulness in daily life.

Clemente E. has been reflecting deeply on God’s Word through his time at Community Bible Church. After hearing from Isaiah 30–31, he shared that God gives stubborn people “a second chance to make the right choice.” Clemente connected this personally to his own life, recognizing how stubbornness once kept him from receiving God’s love and how prayer is helping him listen to the Lord more faithfully.

Jacqualine K. has been walking through a powerful season of spiritual growth. After facing temptation, she chose not to hide, but to seek accountability. Her willingness to confess, receive support, and take steps toward restoration shows the Holy Spirit’s gentle conviction at work in her life.

Michael L. continues to grow spiritually through church attendance and visits with allied churches. He has shared that choosing a home church will be difficult because he has been encouraged by several church communities. His desire to be planted in a church reflects a growing seriousness about discipleship and long- term spiritual support.

Vanessa T. has continued growing spiritually through fellowship, service, and meaningful connection with members of a local church. After serving alongside Karin at the coffee bar, Vanessa felt honored and encouraged. Their conversation became spiritually uplifting as Vanessa was invited to consider sharing her testimony with others.

Manuel S. has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Mission, the RRP process, and the opportunity to rebuild his relationship with God. He shared that this process has saved his life, and his gratitude is being reflected in steady service, church involvement, and a renewed desire to walk with the Lord.

A Restored Relationship with Self

A Restored Relationship with Self is seen when participants begin to understand their God-given dignity, take responsibility for their growth, and replace shame or discouragement with truth, purpose, and hope. These examples show participants becoming more honest, stable, confident, and intentional in their lives.

Rachel M. showed courage by approaching staff to talk through troubling thoughts and personal struggles. Though she became emotional, she was able to process what she was feeling and later expressed relief and greater clarity. Her willingness to ask for help reflects growth in self-awareness and emotional honesty.

Brian M. has grown in understanding that he is made in God’s image and possesses inherent worth and dignity. As he continues working through RRP and pursuing healthy goals, he is learning to see his life with greater clarity, responsibility, and hope for the future.

Arick K. is learning to think more intentionally about the changes he needs to make in his life. As he prepares for Term 4, he has begun identifying meaningful goals and has been receptive to guidance. His growth reflects increasing self-awareness, teachability, and a willingness to take responsibility for his next steps.

Alan C. has been processing his struggles through the lens of Scripture. Staff described him as someone who recognizes what he feels while also submitting himself to what Scripture says. This reflects a growing ability to be honest about pain without being ruled by it.

Restoring Relationships with Others

A Restored Relationship with Others is seen when participants learn to live in community with humility, accountability, encouragement, and trust. These stories show people rebuilding connection through fellowship, service, honesty, and mutual support.

Matteo B. has been intentionally building healthy relationships with both men and women participants through conversation, encouragement, teamwork, and listening. He wrote that he believes “small moments matter,” and he is seeking to be someone who brings encouragement, stability, and a positive attitude into the community.

Tawnya M. is building a strong relationship with a member of her church and sees her as a meaningful source of support. Their bond has grown through shared life experience and church involvement, and Tawnya remains highly engaged with her chosen church and its fellowship opportunities.

Steven R. has been making noticeable effort to open up and engage with others more than he has previously. While building relationships in the Mission community can still be challenging, his increased participation shows a willingness to move toward connection rather than isolation.

A Restored Relationship with Creation

A Restored Relationship with Creation is seen when participants grow in stewardship, work, responsibility, and care for the world and resources God has
entrusted to them. These examples show participants rediscovering dignity and worship through practical service, order, creativity, and meaningful work.

John K. has demonstrated strong stewardship through practical, faithful work around the Mission. He prepared the new bakery area, completed tile work, installed parking lot signs, mapped out and restored garden water lines, and continued assisting during dinners. His service reflects responsibility, skill, and genuine care for the Mission’s property, even as he balances family responsibilities, church involvement, Church Ally commitments, and his time at the Mission. His steady attention to long-standing projects shows restored purpose through meaningful work and service.

Michael M. continues to demonstrate consistency and faithfulness in his assigned chores, while also maintaining healthy relationships at the Mission. His steadiness reflects a growing sense of responsibility and care for the daily work entrusted to him.

Matteo B. developed a garden project designed to include the community, grow relationships, and encourage appreciation for God’s creation. The project also has the potential to provide fresh produce for meals throughout the summer, showing how stewardship can bless both people and place.

Michael L. has shown diligence and dependability through his assigned chores and his role with clothing sorting and store responsibilities. His consistency in caring for practical needs reflects stewardship of the resources God has entrusted to the Mission.

With Gratitude

We are deeply grateful for every church, donor, and friend who helps make this ministry possible. Your prayers, generosity, service, and encouragement help create a place where men and women are welcomed, known, and pointed to the hope of Christ.

As we see relationships restored—with God, with others, with creation, and with self—we are reminded that this work is not ours alone. It is the Lord’s work, carried forward through the faithful love of His people.

Thank you for standing with us as we reach the lost, gather the reached, and serve our community in the love of Christ.
