At the Mission, we believe that lasting change begins not with programs or plans, but with prayer. Every meal, class, and conversation we share flows from our dependence on God. Our mission—to reach the lost and gather the reached—reminds us that true transformation is His work, accomplished through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Prayer keeps us grounded in this truth. There we acknowledge our weakness and His strength. There we bring our participants needs before the Lord, trusting Him to heal what is broken. And it is in prayer that we ask for wisdom to navigate these challenging days with love and courage.
We are living in a time when controversies can quickly divide communities and when emotional reactions often speak louder than thoughtful truth. Yet the gospel calls us to something different. James 1:5 reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” As we seek to be a light in Southern Oregon, we depend on this promise.
This month, we invite you to join us in lifting this prayer for our community, our local churches, and our program participants:
Heavenly Father, draw us close to You. Heal what is broken and renew hearts with Your truth. Help each person see themselves as Your beloved image-bearer, filled with dignity and purpose. Strengthen our bonds with one another so that love and encouragement may flourish. Teach us to use our time, gifts, and resources wisely, as acts of worship to You.
Lord, in this season where our country is so divided, give Your church wisdom and discernment. Help us be a loving, wise people, avoiding emotional reactions and scandalous controversies. May we display Christ to one another and to the world, speaking the truth of Your gospel boldly in love—even if it brings persecution. Teach us to discern when to speak and when to stay silent; when to contend and when to entrust the matter to You.
We see the need for this prayer every day at the Mission. Many who walk through our doors are weary, not only from material poverty but also from broken relationships, lost identity, and deep discouragement. Some carry the weight of division within their families or wounds from past church experiences. Others feel uncertain about their place in the world. Yet again and again, we watch God use prayer as the first step toward healing.
One participant put it beautifully: “My time at the Mission has brought me closer to God, and I have healthy relationships with others for what seems like the first time.” Another shared, “I appreciate the encouragement that I get from the staff but also the brothers and sisters here in the program.”
These testimonies are reminders that prayer is not just words—it is the pathway God uses to bring renewal.
Through prayer, Through prayer, men and women discover dignity, hope, and the joy of belonging both to Christ and to a supportive community.
This prayer also reflects the heart of our values at the Mission. We long to see restoration in the Four Key Relationships—relationship with God, with self, with others, and with creation. And we long to see the church equipped to live wisely, lovingly, and faithfully in a world that does not always welcome the gospel.
Here’s how you can join us in prayer this month:
- Pray for our program participants to feel welcomed and discipled within local church families.
- Pray for men and women to discover their God-given worth and purpose.
- Pray for the church to stand firm in truth while remaining gentle and loving.
- Pray that God would bring healing and hope, and that it would spread across our city, state, and nation.
As we pray together, we are reminded that God’s story of redemption is still unfolding here. Thank you for standing with us in prayer, seeking His wisdom, and trusting Him to bring lasting transformation. May our prayers, lifted in faith, become a testimony to the God who restores, “For the Lord builds up Zion; he appears in his glory; he regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer.” Psalm 102:16–17
