Local Churches
Restoration happens in the local church. We help people get there.
Why the Local Church Matters:
It’s a Witness of Hope
When the local church shares meals, offers hospitality, and serves its neighbors, the community sees a picture of God’s love in action. The church becomes a light of hope in Southern Oregon.
It’s a Spiritual Home
The church is where people discover belonging. It’s not just about attending services; it’s about being part of a family that disciples, encourages, and walks with you through life.
It’s Relational
Our Mission connects people with local churches. These churches don’t just give resources — they open their doors, disciple people into meaningful membership, and help them grow in Christ long after they leave the Mission.
It’s God’s Design for Community
We were created for relationship with God, with ourselves, with others, and with creation. The local church is God’s family where all four of these relationships are restored and strengthened.
The Church Is Formed by the Gospel
The church is not a social program or a group of good intentions — it is a community created and sustained by the saving work of Christ. Through the proclamation of the gospel, the church calls people to new life in Him.
The Church Is Grounded in Scripture
A faithful church stands on the authority of God’s Word. Scripture shapes its worship, its teaching, its mission, and its care for people. Through the preaching and study of the Bible, believers learn to follow Jesus in every part of life.
Christ Is the Head of the Church
The church matters because it belongs to Jesus. He is the head and cornerstone of His people. Everything the church does — worship, discipleship, mission — flows from His authority and exists for His glory.
The Holy Spirit Unites and Empowers the Church
The church is a Spirit-filled community. The Holy Spirit gives believers new hearts, unites them in love, equips them with spiritual gifts, and empowers them to grow in holiness and serve others.
The Church Celebrates the Sacraments
Through baptism and the Lord’s Supper, the church proclaims the gospel in visible ways. These practices remind believers of God’s grace, strengthen their faith, and identify them as members of Christ’s family.
The Church Is a Sent Community
The church not only gathers — it goes. Jesus sends His people to make disciples, serve the vulnerable, pursue justice, and share the good news with the world. The church is God’s missionary people.
The Church Is a Foretaste of God’s Kingdom
The church gives the world a glimpse of God’s restored creation — people reconciled to God and one another, living under Christ’s gracious rule. Through worship, community, and mission, the church previews the coming Kingdom.
Why We Partner with Local Churches
The Medford Gospel Mission exists to reach the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ and gather the reached into healthy, gospel-centered, Protestant, evangelical churches. We believe lasting transformation happens through discipleship in the local church—the primary place where people grow in faith, community, and service. That’s why we partner with churches across southern Oregon, working together to see men and women restored to God and His people through the life of the gospel and the fellowship of the church.
If you’re seeking a local church home, there are more than 70 gospel-centered congregations across southern Oregon where you can grow in your relationship with God, discover your gifts, and join a community of believers following Christ together.
Grow Your Church’s Partnership
Local churches are the heart of our work. Whether you’re just getting connected or ready to disciple participants directly, there’s a next step for you.
